One of my favorite sayings is “Dogs are a man’s best friend, and you can test this. Lock your wife and your dog in a trunk for an hour. When you open the trunk, who’s happy to see you?”
Schools all around the country are worried about students’ mental and physical health. There are too many issues with bullying and depression, and it starts at such a young age. Counselors try their best to help these students, but sometimes, kids don’t need or want to talk to a person. Sometimes, the best kind of therapy is a dog. Imagine a world in which kids could go to school, and after dealing with problems at home, or the school bully, they can go into the counselor’s office, and see a dog. They could talk to it, play with it, and receive an alternative form of comfort. That is a world I want to live in. We (Noah and Arionna) are attempting to bring a therapy dog back to Shepherd High School. Notice how I said back. Yes, there used to be a therapy dog in the high school, until one person wrote a letter and got the privilege revoked. If it only took one person to get rid of the helpful, comforting, therapy dog, how many will it take to get it back? We are willing to find the answer to this question and make it happen.
